As the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Prince George is in line to one day become King of England. However, as a young royal growing up in the public eye, his parents are determined to allow him as normal a childhood as possible. To help maintain some privacy, it seems George uses a secret code name when out in public.

According to a recent report, a passerby was walking her dog near Adelaide Cottage in Norfolk when she encountered Prince George petting her dog. When she asked him his name, to her surprise the young prince said "Archie" with a big smile. This code name is a touching tribute to his uncle Prince Harry's son, Archie Harrison.

The relationship between Prince William and Harry has been strained in recent years. However, George using Harry's son's name as a code name suggests the affection between the cousins remains strong. It's a sweet nod to family connections, showing the bond between the younger generation of royals remains intact despite royal rifts.

Of course, George leads a life different than many other children as the future King of England. Though only 10 years old, he has reportedly known his destiny since age 7 and is gradually learning about his future responsibilities from his parents. George accompanies them on official engagements and is accustomed to life in the public eye. But William and Kate are also determined to allow him a normal childhood for as long as possible.

Towards this goal, the family recently made the move to Adelaide Cottage, closer to Windsor Castle. Last year, George and his siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis began attending Lambrook School, offering them greater privacy and anonymity during the school day. However, it seems George may soon change schools again.

This summer, William and Kate were spotted touring Eton College, the exclusive boarding school attended by William and Harry in their youth. While entry age is typically 13, it's believed George's registration is already in place. With tuition over half a million pounds annually, an Eton education ensures top-notch schooling for the future king.

Despite understanding his future responsibilities from a young age, new reports indicate George's personality is beginning to emerge. According to royal author Kate Nicholl’s new book “The New Royals,” the young prince has shown signs of asserting his status among classmates. She writes that on one occasion at school, George matter-of-factly told peers “my dad will be king, so you better be careful.”

While this anecdote may seem precocious, it’s understandable a boy so aware of his destiny would feel confident in his elevated position. And at only 10, an eagerness to establish dominance is developmentally normal. William and Kate are wisely raising George with an awareness of his role balanced with opportunities for childhood enjoyment.

Part of maintaining some privacy includes using code names while out in public. By casually going by "Archie" as a nod to his cousin, George engages in a lighthearted family secret. It keeps some mystery in his everyday life at a time when much is already known. The bond between the younger royal cousins, signaled by this code name choice, offers hope for reconciliation between their fathers in years to come.

As George grows into his future role, more of his personality will surely emerge. But for now, his parents are dedicated to protecting his childhood within reason. Balancing royal responsibilities with normalcy will be an ongoing challenge. Using a code name like "Archie" allows George a private glimpse of fun, just like any other boy his age enjoying time with a new friend and her dog. It's a small act of childhood preservation for the future king.

Of course, George's path is set regardless of his own feelings on the matter. Nothing can change that he will become monarch after his father William and grandfather Charles. But for now, moments like casually choosing an incognito name show the young prince is able to experience life with a sense of wonder, mystery and play still intact. In the years to come, his character and leadership abilities will shape the future of the monarchy. But for today, George remains above all just a 10 year old boy, kept as normal as the circumstances allow.
