The Prince of Wales, with a full beard and sporting a Team GB polo shirt, added "Well done for everything you have achieved, you have been an inspiration to us all. Well done Team GB, what an amazing journey. Every athlete showed so much dedication, heart, and passion - you made us all so proud." Prince William and Kate Middleton, both 42, wrote in the accompanying tweet "Here to celebrate every win at Paris 2024 and look forward to more from #TeamGB later this summer." The post included the British flag emoji and a gold medal emoji.
William's new beard look was a surprise to fans as he usually maintains a clean shaven appearance in line with previous military protocol. However, he did surprise viewers on Christmas Day 2008 with some light facial hair before quickly shaving it off. His grandmother Queen Elizabeth II was reportedly not a fan of beards and insisted her husband Prince Philip shave off the beard he grew during a 1965 Commonwealth tour.

Off-duty in August while on a family vacation, William took the opportunity to grow out his new full beard look. He and Kate are known for their athletic interests and have passed on a passion for sports to their children. The Prince of Wales recently attended the men's Euro 2022 football final in Germany with his eldest son Prince George, embracing their shared enthusiasm for the game. Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis cheered on England from home, as seen in photos shared on social media.
There has been speculation that William and Kate could make a surprise appearance at the 2024 Paris Olympics themselves. The couple has kept a low profile this summer, spending individual time with George, Charlotte, and Louis. However, Kate's cancer treatment may impact their ability to attend, as she has mentioned having both good and bad days. It also remains unclear if their children would join them in France if they do make an appearance.
