CRITICS SLAM Harry's Harry’s NYC Tattoo Visit: 'Laughable Attempt To Be Relatable'

Prince Harry has been desperately trying to reshape his public image after stepping back from royal duties and moving to the US. However, his latest PR stunt proved once again that no amount of window dressing can undo the damage caused by his dramatic exit from the royal family.

While Harry continues to grapple with complex legal issues surrounding his security arrangements after moving to California, it seems he has found solace in the warm embrace of US authorities, particularly the New York Police Department. On his recent trip to New York for cousin Princess Beatrice's wedding, Harry decided to make quite a splash by rolling up to the iconic East Side Ink tattoo parlor in Manhattan.

But this was no ordinary visit - it was a carefully curated publicity move. Harry arrived with his entire security entourage in tow, complete with NYPD police cruisers flanking his vehicle. Sources say Harry didn't even get a tattoo during this so-called casual outing. No, he was simply there to promote an upcoming project.

A staged promotional appearance at a tattoo shop is hardly the action of a down-to-earth regular guy. Having a mini army of officers trailing you as you window shop is anything but relatable. In the real world, most people go about their day without a production crew of security guards. Perhaps Harry thinks drawing attention to his NYPD police escort makes him seem more important or protected. But to New Yorkers, he's more of a curiosity than a celebrity these days.

What exactly is Harry trying to represent or promote anymore anyway? He's no longer working for the UK monarchy nor is he plugged into American culture. So these ham-fisted attempts to recast himself as a fun-loving regular fella come across as entirely disingenuous. Harry seems to have missed the fundamental lesson that it's not about superficial stunts or how many police officers you have following you - it's about being genuinely grounded.

Many believe Harry's trip to the tattoo shop was a hint that he may finally be contemplating some ink of his own now that he's estranged from the royal family. But what designs would really suit Prince Harry? A crown tattooed on his thinning hairline? Two giant sausages for fun? Chelsea Davy's face in a heart for nostalgia's sake? Each of these options seems about as ridiculous and try-hard as his staged publicity visit.

To truly entertain, let's consider some tattoos that might better reflect Harry's journey: a life-size mural of Meghan's face covering his entire back, with a strategically placed mouth between his buttocks. A leash around his neck as a permanent reminder of who's really in charge. Or perhaps simply the word "Spare" emblazoned across his chest in giant letters visible from outer space. After all, that moniker has seemed to define much of Harry's experience, from childhood to present day.

This over-the-top attempt to rebrand Harry as some kind of fun-loving regular guy only underscores how out of touch he seems. We've witnessed his true fragile ego and inability to accept criticism after leaving the royal family. No publicity stunts or fake relatability campaigns can undo the genuine emotions exposed during his Oprah interview.

In the end, rolling through New York surrounded by a private police escort and security detail, while waving to no one in particular, only highlights how disconnected Harry has become. His efforts to convince us he's a lighthearted joker fall flat while real issues continue simmering just below the surface. As the saying goes, actions speak louder than words. And Harry's actions increasingly tell a far different story than the charming everyman persona he wishes to project.
