The Dynamics within the Royal household were poised for change as the sun set on the era of King Charles III. The twilight of uncertainty cast its shadows upon Prince William's future role and responsibility, with so much concern over his wife's health. The nation collectively sighed in relief when she appeared in Buckingham Palace balcony for the Trooping the Colour parade, despite the uncertainty surrounding her health. The Princess of Wales was determined to display normality for her "normal" means looking immaculate, poised and utterly perfect. Palace staff have spilled that the Wales' are faring well, with an ex even sharing the blunt truth about its wider impact on the monarchy, telling it all seems rather flat without Catherine. Given the winter's drastically thin ranks, she is the Crown's best hope by far. She combines duty and beauty with a pursing vulnerability second only to Prince William's mother.

Speculation ran rampant in the media, with pundits offering their own interpretations of what the future might hold for the princess. One question that is raised - but many royalists have pondered - is about the couple's high salaries. Are they worth it? This is a valid point considering that this couple has logged fewer days as working royals than some other senior members of the family. However, it is a delight to hear that they are amply compensated for their work - work that ensures the royal family's survival.

Prince William wants to show his family and the world that he is responsible with money, according to an insider. Recently, the 42-year-old has been taking inventory of the payroll now that he's in charge of the estate. William spends a lot of time thinking about how money is being used, a source dished. This includes the income generated from residential and commercial rents across 20 counties in England. The last thing he wants to come across as is privileged with cash.

Recently, William decided to cut off Queen Camilla's sister, Annabelle Elliot, as an interior designer from the Duchy of Cornwall payroll. It comes as no surprise to those who know the history. Again, the prince's decision to remove Camilla Parker Bowles' sister from her role has shown a rare shaft of light on the fraught relationship between the prince and his stepmother's family - a tense matter usually kept out of the limelight. They say he has long sought to keep the entire Parker Bowles family at arm's length. He's not close to Camilla's children Tom and Laura.

Indeed, one source who is a mutual friend of the reluctant step-siblings told that it is best to avoid mentioning Tom around William. Partly, this stems from William's nervousness about Tom's rather louche lifestyle as a Mayfair bon vivant. The source said Tom was famously caught admitting to using cocaine by an undercover tabloid reporter in 1999 - long before his mother became Queen. The relationship between Camilla and William has of course been indelibly shaped by the legacy of Princess Diana. Camilla was perceived by Diana as the "other woman" in her marriage to Charles, and she is known to have discussed her marital issues with her eldest son including Camilla's role.

Given William's general ennui towards the wider Parker Bowles clan, the ejection of Annabelle is no great surprise to insiders. While some might imagine the King would take offense at his son giving his sister-in-law the royal boot, one friend of Charles and Camilla noted that was far from the case. "I think Charles has got bigger fish to fry than worrying about Annabelle's job prospects. The Duchy of Cornwall is William's now - she is 75 and she is the Queen's companion, so now she's very busy."

At the 31st of March 2024, there is £2023 remaining payable to Mrs. Elliott in respect of fees following the new annual report published on July 24. A reported stated that this decision to not renew her contract was not a reflection on the quality of her work, characterizing the decision instead as part of the "evolution of the business" as William took control. Still, cynical observers have been quick to note that preferential treatment of trusted individuals is not completely out of vogue. The Prince of Wales has now taken on one of his own close friends in a senior role at the Duchy - William Van Cutsem, who has been named a senior adviser.

Elsewhere in the report, Prince William's salary was revealed. In 2023, he made about $1.3 million. Meanwhile, William's brother is set to receive £8.5 million from his share of the £90 million trust fund his late grandmother, the Queen Mother, left before she died in 2002. However, William doesn't trust Harry or his wife one bit, so the idea that Harry's now cashing in on his great Granny's inheritance leaves a bitter taste in their mouths. The future of the monarchy remains uncertain, but with Catherine and William at the helm, the Crown is in capable hands as it navigates this period of change.
