This week saw Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales decide to finally spend some private time together at Balmoral Castle. The future King and Queen of England reportedly dropped off their three young children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - with the Middleton family before heading to the Scottish Highlands.

Local residents reported sightings of Catherine and William strolling along the beautiful Scottish coastline, enjoying the serene surroundings and each other's company. Palace sources declined to comment as the trip was considered private, however it is believed to be the first solo trip this couple has made to Scotland without their three children in some time.

Every year, the royal family spends a long weekend at Balmoral Castle in late August. The tradition was begun by the late Queen Elizabeth II, who loved to host her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the estate. This tradition has now been continued by King Charles III. During their getaway, Catherine looked radiant in a stunning midi dress while William appeared relaxed and happy. The couple was seen chatting and laughing together.

The timing of this private getaway could not have been better, as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are currently back in school and under the watchful eye of their trusted nanny Maria. This rare opportunity allowed the royal couple to enjoy some much-needed alone time together. This mini vacation showcases the strong bond between William and Catherine, as well as the importance they place on nurturing their relationship, especially during challenging times.

Sources near the vast Balmoral estate shared that the Prince and Princess appeared to be in good spirits during their private weekend retreat. King Charles is also said to be in very good health and high spirits as he takes on his new role. In his upcoming book, royal author Robert Jobson notes that William would often whisk Catherine away to remote cottages on the Balmoral estate in their early dating years in the 2000s.

Occasionally, the couple would even check into hotels using the names "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," which doubtless fooled no one. When both were students at the University of St. Andrews from 2001 to 2005, William referred to himself as "Steve" in public. Catherine reportedly helped the pseudonym stick and would call him by this name whenever they were out together.

This week also saw William and Catherine make an appearance at church services alongside other senior members of the British royal family. As the mother of three arrived in the passenger seat, with her husband Prince William at the wheel, Catherine flashed a brief but warm smile. She wore a striking dark green wide-brimmed hat adorned with feathers on the side, paired with a classic brown tartan coat.

William cut a somber yet elegant figure in a dark suit as they joined King Charles and Queen Camilla, who also arrived separately. While the princess looked very much like her usual self in the car with William, her health remains a priority as she recovers from a recent illness. As such, many suspect she will not make a flurry of public appearances just yet.

Some royal commentators are looking ahead to November and December for Catherine's next potential major public appearances. These include her annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December. This popular event helps kick off the festive season for the royal family.

Additionally, this week Prince William announced the fifteen finalists for the fourth edition of his prestigious $1 million Earthshot Prize, which aims to uncover and support the most impactful solutions to the planet's environmental challenges. The announcement was made in New York City, where William expressed his delight at introducing these remarkable innovators. The finalists hail from six continents, including first-time countries like France, Ghana, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, and Nepal. The five winners will be announced at the Earthshot Prize award ceremony in Cape Town, South Africa on November 6th.
