Together they approached the large iron basement door that led to the forgotten storage chambers below the palace.
The guards unlocked the heavy entrance and stepped into the dark cellar with flashlights cutting through the shadows. Dust-covered furniture and stacks of neglected boxes filled the space. Then, from between two crates, they discovered a terrified young maid named Emily. Pale and trembling, she burst into tears the moment she saw the prince.
Emily claimed she had been locked inside the basement by Martin, a longtime personal bodyguard loyal to Queen Camilla. Struggling to steady her breathing, she revealed that earlier in the evening she had accidentally overheard a private conversation near Camilla’s study. According to her account, the discussion centered around disrupting William’s future coronation and damaging his reputation before he officially became king.

By morning, palace life appeared perfectly normal on the surface. Official meetings continued, staff carried on with their duties, and William maintained his calm public image. The person moved cautiously, checking the corridor before descending the stairs. Fifteen minutes later, the same figure reappeared and quickly left the area.
Even though the footage was grainy, William immediately recognized the man as Martin, Queen Camilla’s trusted bodyguard. Robert also discovered that Martin was not even assigned to that section of the palace during the night in question. The evidence began forming a troubling pattern: a disabled camera, an unauthorized guard, and a frightened maid locked underground.

The investigation took another dramatic turn when Martin suddenly disappeared. Palace staff learned he had packed bags and left his residence, telling neighbors he was leaving for urgent business. To William and Robert, it looked like the actions of a man fleeing exposure.
Financial records uncovered an additional bombshell: a large payment had recently been transferred from an account connected to Camilla to Martin’s personal bank account. To William’s team, it appeared suspiciously like hush money.

Days later, Robert reported that Martin had allegedly sent Camilla an encrypted message demanding more money in exchange for his silence. That rainy evening, William’s trusted security officers covertly surrounded the location. Camilla reportedly arrived carrying a large handbag, while Martin entered minutes later wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Hidden surveillance captured their tense conversation. Moments after money changed hands, officers stormed in and arrested Martin on charges connected to blackmail and unlawful confinement.
Camilla herself was not arrested, but she was quietly escorted back to Clarence House as the scandal threatened to explode behind palace walls.
The following morning, William allegedly confronted his stepmother privately. The atmosphere between them was cold and shattered by mistrust. William accused her of betraying both family and crown by plotting to sabotage his future reign. Camilla, according to the story, attempted to justify her actions as an effort to preserve stability within the monarchy and protect King Charles.
But William rejected the explanation, arguing that such manipulation would have destroyed public trust in the royal institution itself. What began as whispers in a dark basement had now escalated into a secret internal war for the future of the crown.
