Sarah Ferguson's brief comments on Meghan Markle during the royal family conflict have sparked interest. Before diving into her remarks, please consider subscribing to stay updated on British royal news.
Sarah Ferguson expressed that while having interacted with Meghan Markle several times, she doesn't truly know the Duchess of Sussex. The Duchess of York, who turned 65 recently, first met Prince Harry's then-girlfriend at her home, the Royal Lodge she shares with ex-husband Prince Andrew. In his memoir, Harry recalled visiting Fergie and Andrew for lunch when the Queen unexpectedly dropped by. At one point, Fergie asked Meghan if she knew how to curtsy. Meghan shook her head no, so Fergie demonstrated and Meghan followed suit.

Despite this shared experience, Sarah has acknowledged that she doesn't really know Harry's wife. In a 2021 interview with Telegraph Magazine, Fergie claimed "I don't really know Meghan. I haven't really met her." However, she expressed happiness for Prince Harry, saying "I spoke to her at the funeral and I thought she looked absolutely beautiful. I think she is beautiful. She has made Harry very happy and that is certain nice. Honestly, he's so happy with her. She really loves him and I think that's beautiful and that Diana would be proud of him and her lovely grandchildren."
Sarah and Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, were among the royals closest to Meghan during her time as a working royal, which ended in 2020 when she and Harry stepped back from their duties and moved to California. Eugenie reportedly visited the couple in America a few years ago, and Harry included a brief clip of their time together in the Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan." It remains unclear if they still keep in touch following Harry's memoir release last year.

In a resurfaced interview, Meghan candidly discussed her efforts to mend relationships within the royal family after deciding to leave Britain in 2020. She spoke to Cut magazine in 2022 while promoting her short-lived Spotify podcast "Archetypes." Meghan stressed the importance of forgiveness, saying "It takes a lot more energy to not forgive. But it also takes effort to forgive." She said she consciously made an "active effort" knowing she could say anything, but chose discretion.
Meghan's words echoed her perspective on how much of her experience within the royal family remains untold, despite interviews. "It's interesting, I've never had to sign anything that restricts me from talking. I can talk about my whole experience and make a choice not to," she noted. The tension between her and the royal family escalated following candid revelations in interviews with Oprah Winfrey in 2021 and the Netflix series.

Reflecting on communication, Meghan added a poignant metaphor: "I have a lot to say and until I don't do you like that sometimes as they they say the silent part is still part of the song." She seemed to allude to balancing openness with discretion since leaving royal life. At the heart of the interview was finding her voice, which she emphasized discovering through "Archetypes" conversations with figures like Serena Williams.
While "Archetypes" was successful and garnered attention, Meghan and Spotify mutually agreed not to renew it for season two in 2023. However, this didn't end Meghan's podcast journey - she found a new home with Lemonada Media, a female-founded company. In early 2024, she expressed excitement about supporting them through re-releasing season one and launching a new program. This next chapter aims to amplify important discussions on a global scale as Meghan steps forward with fresh projects.
