The Princess of Wales has made her first official public engagement since ending her chemotherapy treatment alongside her husband Prince William. For the occasion, Kate wore some of her favorite British fashion labels and donned the trending Autumn color palette of burgundies and chocolate browns to match the season.

Kate chose to wear a brown double-breasted wool jacket by Smythe and a burgundy and white polka dot mini dress with a bow detail by Religion Studio. To finish the look, the princess carried a velvet brown clutch, wore pointed brown heels, and paired her outfit with a set of Kiki McDonough goldDrop Fern earrings which she has worn on numerous occasions this Autumn.

For her first public appearance since ending chemotherapy treatment, Kate stayed true to brands she knows and trusts. The British label Alexander McQueen, which designed her iconic wedding dress, is now led by Irish designer Sarah Burton, who recently entered the top 500 of The Business of Fashion power list for her contributions to the global fashion industry.

Brown wool coats are a wardrobe staple for Kate during the colder months. She was last seen wearing a similar coat during a trip to Boston, Massachusetts in December 2022. On this occasion, the Prince and Princess were visiting bereaved families of three children who were killed in a knife attack in July. Sources said Kate wished to join William to show her support, empathy and compassion for the local community during this difficult time.

Footage from their engagement interview in November 2010 resurfaced where they were quizzed about splitting up for a period after William ended things with Kate over the phone at the end of 2006.

In the full interview available on YouTube, William said "We did split up for a bit. It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up. And it was just really time and it worked out for the better." Kate added "You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn't realized. I really valued that time for me as well."

Royal biographer Robert Jobson wrote in his book "Catherine, the Princess of Wales" that Kate was devastated when the then-25-year-old William unexpectedly canceled New Year plans and broke up with her over the phone. It was the second time he had ended their relationship, though this time it felt more serious.

We took him under thinking he’d freak out but he absolutely loved it. It’s just introduced him to the world of water," William said.

Kate is a qualified Advanced Open Water diver after passing her Padi certification in 2015. Video footage released by Kensington Palace shows the couple exploring the Great Barrier Reef together during their 2022 tour of Australia.

It seems the royals enjoy family diving holidays, though George's younger siblings Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte have yet to try the sport.

The family is also known to spend private time on vacation island Mustique, where George reportedly celebrated his 6th birthday. More recently, they've taken trips to Jordan where Kate lived for two years and frequently visit the Isles of Scilly off Cornwall for cycling and beaches.

By wearing trusted British brands, Kate promoted UK fashion and helped energize the autumn trend forecast. Her family anecdotes also offered a glimpse of down time activities like scuba diving enjoyed together off-duty.
